From Compass Housing Alliance President Christopher Ross

Fall is here, and that means that the holiday season is right around the corner. For me, it’s one of my favorite times of year because it means family, celebrations, spending time with friends, and learning and relearning about what we truly value and care about. It can be a time to grow.

At Compass, we are always looking to grow our understanding, professionalism, and cultural competency so that we can be the most effective partners for our guests and residents.

In October, we took another step and had our first baseline cultural competency training with the entire staff. This was meant to set the level, get everyone in the same room, and on the same page. Needless to say, it was an enthusiastic day of learning, and we are just getting started.

Our commitment is to continue investing in Cultural Competency and other professional development opportunities across Compass. Going forward, our goal is to provide learning opportunities that meet people where they are, recognizing different levels of experience, knowledge, and learning journeys. We want to build a culture of continuous learning that helps all of us strengthen our ability to serve our guests, residents, and one another.

Thank you for being on this journey with us, and if it isn’t too early, Happy Holidays!
