We are truly grateful for the ongoing support from our community partners, our staff, our guests, our residents, and of course YOU! For our third annual gratitude week, we are highlighting the diverse communities of supporters that make our work happen!

Thank you, Veterans!

It is one of our greatest honors to serve Veterans throughout our programs. We owe them a debt of thanks. And Canlis Restaurant stepped up! Thank you to Canlis Restaurant for delivering a tasty meal to our Veterans at Blaine Veterans Center in honor of Veterans Day!

First United Methodist Church of Seattle volunteered to serve, and Reverend Wongee Joh gave a few words of encouragement and comfort as the meal began.

Mission Advancement Officer Anne Jannetti expresses her thankfulness to two of our long-time donors, Paul and Karen Hogle

Paul and Karen Hogle are bright, beautiful, loving human beings who are steadfast in their commitment to Compass Housing Alliance and the people we walk alongside every day. They are all about love and illuminating people’s humanity, no matter who they are.

Accomplished engineers Paul and Karen are also passionate about contributing to our community – and having fun! They show up and engage with others, helping to inspire everyone around them to experience the joy of giving, advocating, and loving our neighbors.

To see Paul and Karen in action makes everyone feel bigger, respected, and lifted up. Whether it’s Paul advocating for our belief that “Everyone Deserves a Home” at an event or in a conversation with a community member, taking the time to express genuine gratitude to Compass staff and supporters, or Karen and Paul helping to prepare and serve meals at our programs, they create a sense of belonging for everyone.

For many years, Paul has played Santa Claus over the holidays at our programs, to the delight of residents and guests. Paul has served as a board member, board president, and is a founding member of our Ambassador Council.

Paul and Karen, often with one of their loving guide dog “trainees” by their side – are beloved members of our Compass family. They inspire us to lead with compassion and a big heart, no matter the season.

By generously investing their time, talent, and treasure for so long, Paul and Karen have helped many people change their lives! It’s a beautiful impact.

Thank you, A Seattle Church!

We are thankful and proud of our partnership with A Seattle Church, a monumental presence for Cascade Women’s Program (housing) and Otto’s Place Men’s Shelter. Not only have folks come in and volunteered their time to host activities such as art and poetry and dinner nights, but they’ve also spent many hours/resources helping restore the garden patio at Cascade. But it doesn’t end there; they’ve also donated pillows and blankets to the men at Otto’s.

They’ve helped decorate the program for the holidays and will host a massive Christmas Carol Concert in the Compass Center for the second straight year. We are very honored and privileged to work alongside A Seattle Church, which has been so intentional in serving our guests and residents.

Thank you, A Seattle Church!

Thank you, Liberty Mutual!

Foundations are a key source of support for Compass. They provide critical funding for our programs, our guests, and our residents. Compass is grateful to partner with foundations that share our vision of ensuring everyone has a place to call home.

The Liberty Mutual Foundation has been an unwavering ally of Compass Housing Alliance since 2011. Through its Basic Services Grant, the Liberty Mutual Foundation provides substantial multi-year grants that help Compass serve more than 6300 people annually. Multi-year funding helps Compass reduce uncertainty and ensure that we will have the funds to support our guests and residents long into the future.

And the support from Liberty Mutual goes beyond a single grant. Staff at Liberty Mutual support Compass through the annual Serve with Liberty volunteer event and through a very active employee-giving program.

We are filled with gratitude for the support we receive from Liberty Mutual and other foundations. Every foundation dollar represents a family housed, a Veteran sheltered, or a child given hope. Together, we’re not just providing shelter – we’re building community.

Thank you, Liberty Mutual!

Thank you, Boots and Paul Winterstein!

In the spirit of Gratitude Week, we want to take a moment to express our deep appreciation for two incredible individuals who have been integral to the ongoing success of Compass Housing Alliance: Boots and Paul Winterstein.

Boots, who has been a steadfast volunteer and advocate, has played an instrumental role in shaping the way we engage with the community. Her dedication to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and her efforts to raise awareness about the challenges they face have helped us grow both in scope and impact. Her contributions have been essential in furthering our mission of providing housing, services, and hope to those who need it most.

Paul has been a cornerstone of our development and growth. As a former Board Member, Paul’s leadership and strategic insight have been invaluable in guiding us through some of our most pivotal moments. His legacy continues to inspire us all to do more and never lose sight of our mission.

Together, they embody the spirit of service, leadership, and compassion that fuels Compass. We are beyond grateful for their continued contributions and honored to have them as part of the Compass family. Thank you, Boots and Paul, for everything you do to make a difference in the lives of so many.

Thank you, Amira!

Amira has been a dedicated volunteer at Nyer Urness, consistently helping every Friday for four hours since the end of May. She supports a variety of activities, from holiday decorating and assisting with the food pantry to leading fun, interactive programs with residents.

Her trauma-informed approach has allowed her to build strong connections with the residents, who look forward to her visits each week. Amira has also been amazing in volunteering for special events such as our Gala and Seahawks games. She comes in with so much joy and energy that it uplifts the entire event.

We are so thankful for her presence and commitment to us.

Thank you, Amira!
