Thank you to U Village and their generous customers! For the 15th consecutive year, the Winter Wish program has delivered donated gifts and holiday cheer to children and families who reside at our Compass on Dexter affordable housing community. This year, we received more than 150 presents, ensuring that every child received what they wished for, and that families could celebrate together.

A message of gratitude from our program manager

Anthony Williams, Program Manager at Compass on Dexter, shared these words with the Winter Wish team:

“Thank you for making this Christmas truly special by providing such generous gifts for the children who live in our building community.

For years, you have championed our community and the people we serve. You invite others to give, and because of that, we get the privilege of walking through our halls and being the face of giving, while knowing that the true generosity began with you.

Because of your support, our residents were able to enjoy community games, prizes, and a holiday celebration that was easy to turn into a true party. Most importantly, every kid received a gift they requested and the other gifts generously powered our entire holiday event and filled our building with joy, laughter, and connection.

We are forever grateful for your continued support and the care you show our community year after year. Thank you for continuing to include us in this event. Some of our residents wouldn’t be able to celebrate a traditional holiday season without you.”

Anthony’s words capture what we at Compass feel deeply: this partnership is about more than gifts. It’s about dignity, connection, and the powerful message that our residents, and their children, matter to this community.

About U Village’s Winter Wish Program

For decades, U Village’s Winter Wish program has invited shoppers to make the holidays brighter for local children and families in need. Every year, giving trees appear on the day after Thanksgiving, decorated with tags representing gift wishes from partner organizations. Customers select tags, purchase gifts, and return them to U Village, where they’re sorted and delivered to nonprofits serving the Seattle community. Winter Wish has become a beloved tradition —a simple, meaningful way to give back during the season of giving. In 2025 alone, 1,855 gifts were donated to 12 local organizations, bringing joy to hundreds of children and families across King County.
