As we enjoy another beautiful Pacific Northwest summer, I’m reminded why so many of us are grateful to call this region home.
Over the past quarter century, our community has become known not only for innovation and economic growth, but also for our deep commitment to improving lives.
That same spirit calls upon us to address, with renewed emphasis, one of our region’s greatest challenges: ensuring that every neighbor has the opportunity to experience the stability, safety, and dignity of a place to call home.
For more than a century, Compass has answered that call by continually adapting to meet the changing needs of individuals and families across our region. From emergency shelters and supportive services to affordable housing, our mission has always been rooted in creating pathways to greater stability, safety, and dignity. Today, we are once again being called to innovate, not simply by expanding the services we provide, but rather by reimagining how people access them in the first place.
One of the most exciting parts of this next chapter is our housing development pipeline. Compass currently has three significant projects in the queue that, once greenlighted, will bring forward approximately 500 new affordable units over the next five years.
To do that well, we are also investing in our housing development team.
As such, I am excited to share that Compass is currently recruiting for a Director of Housing Development, a key leadership position that will help guide our next chapter of growth. We are seeking the right individual who will not only help us navigate the complexity of affordable housing projects, but also live out our mission and values on behalf of the people we serve.

Every new home matters. Every shelter bed matters. Every partnership matters. Every person who participates in this work matters. As we move through this summer and into the next chapter of Compass, I am filled with gratitude for the staff, partners, donors, public agencies, and community members who continue to believe in what is possible. The challenges are real, but so is our commitment.
Compass is growing because the need is growing. Together with the right people, the right partners, and the right vision, we can help build a stronger, more compassionate region for everyone who calls the Pacific Northwest their home.
